An Ode to Toni Jo. . . Spring Summer '14/15

An Ode to Toni Jo;
My  Hero
My Strong Pillar
My Un-failing support system
Thank You for your strength
Thank You for your weakness
Thank You for  your tears,
Thank You for your smiles.
Thank you for who you are, for
All you are has made me who I am.

This collection is very dear to the designer’s heart as it is dedicated to her father, Tonipre Joseph Sambo. She used strictly dark colors like Maroon, Gray and Black to represent the emotions herself and her family has gone through in the past few months.
To the designer, this collection is defined thus: ‘’True definition of strength is being strong even when everyone expects you to be weak. It doesn’t matter how many times you fall or how long it takes you to muster up strength or courage to get back up, all that matters is that you do and when you get back up, you stand tall, and you are ready to face the world.”
The collection is a mix of silhouettes, which every woman would need in her wardrobe. The use of Cotton, Tulle and Lace emphasizes Strength to Frailty to mystery and finally, control of one’s self and existence after fully understanding that everything in life has to come together for one to survive, find a balance and find joy which is necessary for your sanity.

THE VOYAGE OF MADEMOSIELLE ADANNA - SPRING SUMMER '13/'14

Mademosielle Adanna is a fictional character created in the mind of  our creative director. Mademosielle Adanna is the ultimate wana sambo woman!  She lives in every woman.

Our SS'13 collection is a picturesque story of  Mademosielle Adanna’s wardrobe which includes pieces she wears in her daily life to work, parties, cocktails, travels. Etc. Mademosielle Adanna is that confident streak that lives in every woman. Her clothes are sometimes rebellious, sexy and other times corporate, like we all dress daily. We all have different outfits for different events and occassions in our lives. Welcome to Mademosielle Adannas closet. A journey through time and season’s past.

“I wanted to make clothes for every woman. Whether big, small, petit, hourglass. Every woman! Clothes that make her happy and creates smiles on people’s faces as she walks into a room.” – Wana Sambo.

We've put up some pieces from the collection! See more on www.wansambo.com! Enjoy!!

NAKED KUTI-COBAIN; PREVIEW SS12/13. . .

The WS SS12/13 RTW collection is a cross between vintage work wear and modern daywear borrowing its influence from the 90’s. Wana Sambo imagined what the love child of a Kurt Cobain and Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s music would be like if it were clothing.
The title: Naked is a juxtaposition based on the reality of these two men’s lives. Naturally, Fela was almost always near naked and Kurt Cobain, who most speculates died loveless, committed suicide. Looking at the depth of the reality of their lives, she came to a conclusion that they both were naked.  According to the dictionary, one of the various definitions of the word ‘Naked’ means ‘without clothes or protection’.  Fela was more the former and Kurt the latter.
The WS SS12/13 collection is a struggle for the placement of an identity on these two legendary musician’s love child. She worked with Reds, Blacks, Off-whites, Peach, Gold and abstract fabric patterns, textures and colors. She also played with the idea of being both legends personal stylist and transferring their creativity, art and personality unto their female offspring, whose first name would be ‘Naked’ and last name, ‘Kuti-Cobain’.

RIP FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI & KURT DONALD COBAIN
